SSD TRIM and Data Recovery: What It Changes

Traditional hard drives normally leave deleted file content in place until new data overwrites it. SSDs use a different internal architecture, and the TRIM command can significantly change the recovery outlook.

What TRIM does

When a supported operating system deletes data, it can tell the SSD that specific logical blocks are no longer required. The controller may then remove those blocks from active mapping and prepare the underlying NAND pages for reuse.

Why power state matters

Background garbage collection can continue while an SSD is powered. This means repeated booting, scanning or cloning through ordinary software may not be neutral actions.
